Minutes to the Meeting of
March 16, 2006
President John DiGirolomo, CHFM, called the meeting to order on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the Galloping Hill Inn, Union, New Jersey, commencing at 6:07 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. There was a moment of silence observed for the men and women who are serving abroad. Self-introductions were made.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION TOPIC
Our presenter for the evening's education session was Mr. Timothy A. Nestor; SSA of the FBI. He presented information on Identity Theft Issues. See attached presentation.
DINNER BREAK AT 7:15 P.M.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
John DiGirolomo, CHFM reported that the Image of the suggested new logo for the HFMSNJ is posted on the Web Site. He urged all in attendance to submit their vote by March 31, 2006. John also indicated that the Educational Segment Survey form would be posted to the Website in the near future. This is a very important tool for understanding the satisfaction and the needs of the HFMSNJ members in relation to this very important part of our regular meetings.
Ben DiFranco, CHFM urged everyone to visit the ASHE table and to consider becoming a member of ASHE. Ben DiFranco, CHFM, advised that the CEU credits were sent out recently to all respective members. He reminded everyone to keep the date open and to participate in this year's "All Day Seminar".
Ben indicated the change in the annual schedule would include a regular meeting in November. The annual Holiday Gathering will be scheduled in early December.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
Rick Ciullo had no updates to report. Please submit reports to him electronically at rdciullo@ashland.com .
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Robert Thompson, was absent, therefore no report was presented.
AD JOURNAL
Margaret Nesby again distributed the 2006 Ad Journal to all members in attendance. In preparation for the 2007 Ad Journal, Margaret requested that members become involved with content and ideas. Margaret also solicited camera-ready artwork for Ad Journal content. If there are any questions relative to the Ad Journal, please contact Margaret at margaretnesby@truevalue.net .
ADVOCACY
Robert Roop, P.E., reported on several topics. The first topic was to submit a letter to the Commissioner of the Department of Health on "Pull Station Testing". It will suggest bringing the testing and reporting in line with the NFPA CODES. Robert also covered information on the location of alcohol hand disinfectant. As of this time, testing was completed on the gel form of the products, but not yet on the foam. It was noted that the foam contains isobutene.
ASHE
Ben DiFranco, CHFM urged everyone to visit the ASHE table and to consider becoming an ASHE Member.
MEMBERSHIP
There was one new candidate for membership; Dianne Applebaum. There was a motion to accept Ms. Applebaum made by Bill Anderson, seconded by James Corueil, and unanimously approved by all members.
WEBSITE
Oscar Gonzalez; CHFM, indicated that the website has been greatly improved. It is much more "user friendly". If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to improve the site, please address them with Oscar.
LEVELS OF AFFILIATION
Ben DiFranco, CHFM indicated that he and Rick Ciullo submitted the 2005 HFMSNJ Levels of Affiliation binder. Approximately 40 man-hours of work went into the submittal, which was mailed out on March 10, 2006.
NEWSLETTER
Mary Padgett was not in attendance; therefore, no report was submitted.
EAB
James Corueil reported that the EO 50 has expanded the role of first responders. He also reported that William Cutthill filled the open seat on the EAB committee, from St. Barnabas Healthcare System.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Frank Keller informed us that the February Bridges Run was very successful. There will be a Bridges Run on Friday, May17, 2006. Anyone attending the run is to meet at Christ Church, Summit, NJ. Please be sure to bring food and clothing to meetings. Frank was also interested in ideas for another community project for HMFSNJ such as painting a house or sponsoring a kid for a summer camp.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEE
George Thomas, FASHE urged all in attendance to nominate HFMSNJ members for regional leader, manager of the year, or special recognition for services that go above and beyond our normal duties.
DOH UPDATES
James Corueil reported on several issues pertaining to the Department of Health:
1. The DOH may require that contractors who work in healthcare facilities have TB testing on a regular basis.
2. Negative pressure rooms must be at a consistent -0.1 or less. If a steady -0.1 cannot be maintained, the DOH will fail the inspection.
3. It is acceptable to have alcohol hand sanitizer dispensers closer to an outlet than the standards require if the dispenser is on an adjacent wall.
4. AIA Guidelines may change in reference to Endoscopy suites. The scopes must be cleaned and stored in two separate rooms.
GOLF COMMITTEE
Roger Ennis reported that the applications for the Golf Outing would be distributed in April. The date of this year's outing is Tuesday, June 6 at the Fox Hollow Country Club. Please save the date.
