Minutes to the Meeting of

January 15, 2009

President Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE called the meeting to order on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Galloping Hill Inn, Union, New Jersey, commencing at 6:05 p.m. Sergeant-at-Arms Michael DePadova, CHFM, SASHE

Lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Self-introductions were made by all in attendance.

SPONSOR

The sponsors for this evening's meeting were Certified Infrared Inc.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION TOPIC

The educational session was presented by Mr. John Hyfantis of the Energistics, LLC. The topic of discussion was Basics for Hospitals "Arc Flash". There was a Power Point Presentation with a question and answer session following.

President Ben DiFranco thanked Mr. John Hyfantis and the sponsors.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE announce to the group the importance of joining ASHE and the benefits being a member brings to your career. Provided general updates to the group. Ben asked the members to go around the room for formal introductions. Ben informed the group that the society will be financially sponsoring the Teen Technology Robotics group. Ben announces the PDC is scheduled for MARCH 2009. The president stated that ASHE region 2 mission statements will be revised. He also informed the group of ASHE institute program which provides many educational courses to the members.

PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT

Ed Fay announced that the 2009 educational calendar of events has been established but sponsorship was still needed. Ed told everyone to look forward to Mr. George Mills from the Joint Commission tentatively scheduled for June 18, 2009 all day Seminar. September session is still open for education and sponsorship. Ben made known to the members that John Schliewenz has been appointed Historian for the group and he will be creating timelines and gathering information on the chapter's history which started in 1949.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Bill Anderson, CHFM, FASHE presented the following synapses of the 2009 budget:

Beginning Balance: $68,899.47

Disbursements: $19,649.82

Receipts: $21,402.50

Ending Balance: $70,652.15

The organization is solvent.

Bill also informed the membership that the proposed 2009 operating budget has been submitted and accepted by the executive committee and the society has incorporated ASHE latest strategic plan.

SECRETARYS REPORT

Joe Glaski informed all in attendance that the time had come to assemble all the required documentation to submit to ASHE in order to achieve the Platinum Level of Affiliation. Special thanks to Rick Ciullo and Ed Fay for their assistance in the collection of all documentation.

Joe Glaski also reminded everyone how important it was that members of the society join and become active with ASHE to help us continue to reach this goal.

Requested form the group to confirm that they are receiving the e-mail notices of announcements. Many of the members have either changed jobs and now have new e-mails. Please contact Joe with any new personal information so the registrar can be kept up to date.

ADVOCACY

Robert Roop, PE. Mentioned that ASHE is surveying its members to submit their most cited deficiency they are dealing with and ASHE will distribute the "TOP 10"

EAB

Hank Sherman announces that NJHA had chosen them to be part of the Emergency Planning contingency group.

GOLF OUTTING

Amy DiPaolo reminded everyone to save the date for this years golf outing and it will be held once again at Fox Hollow Country Club on Tuesday June 2nd, 2009. Anyone looking to sponsor please contact Amy.

NEWSLETTER

Rajendra Shah announced to the group the newsletter will be posted on the website. Rajendra urged the membership to please submit any ideas for the newsletter.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

No report at this time

MEMBERSHIP

Peter Appelmann thanked the Executive Committee to continue with the move up program.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Ben announced for Frank Keller the next Bridges run event and looking for volunteers for Habitat program this spring.

WEBSITE

Kim Makay stated to the group to look forward to new changes to the website

AD JOURNAL

Oscar stated that the he was working on the AD journal and look for further information coming out on the AD journal.

AUDIT - NOMINATING

John DiGirolomo appointed. Further information forthcoming

AWARDS - RECOGNITION

George Thomas mentioned to the group Awards and Recognition - Emerging leader selection is in process.

HISTORIAN

John Schliewenz - Will be providing the group with further information on this new appointment. Additionally the information will be posted on the website.

NJDOHSS, NFPA. TJC - UPDATES

George Thomas stated the LSCS looks basically the same but the scoring for 2009 will have an impact on the Hospitals survey.

OLD BUSINESS

No "Old Business" was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS

Ben opened the floor to the members for any updates

Hank Sherman announces that Christian Healthcare will host the next Hospital Engineers meeting.

ASHE

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE reminded the members that there are applications to ASHE at every meeting and urged all members to enroll in ASHE.
