Minutes to the Meeting of

February 19, 2009

President Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE called the meeting to order on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Galloping Hill Inn, Union, New Jersey, commencing at 6:05 p.m. Sergeant-at-Arms Michael DePadova, CHFM, SASHE

Lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Self-introductions were made by all in attendance.

SPONSOR

The sponsors for this evening's meeting were Kistler O'Brien - Fire Protection.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION TOPIC

The educational session was presented by Mr. Dan Chisholm of the MGI. The topic of discussion was DNV Healthcare Inc. The Joint Commission's New Competitor. There was a Power Point Presentation with a question and answer session following.

President Ben DiFranco thanked Mr. Dan Chisholm of MGI.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE announce to the group the importance of joining ASHE and the benefits being a member brings to your career. Provided general updates to the group.

PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT

Ed Fay announced that the 2009 educational calendar of events has been established but sponsorship was still needed. Ed told everyone to look forward to next month's session with Mark Allen from Beacon Medaes on Medical Gases in Healthcare with Sherman Engineering being the sponsor for the evening. Ed also mentioned that Mr. George Mills from the Joint Commission is scheduled for June 18, 2009 all day Seminar.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Bill Anderson, CHFM, FASHE presented the following synapses of the 2009 budget:

Beginning Balance: $72,006.19

Disbursements: $7,225.75

Receipts: $5,915.00

Ending Balance: $70,695.44

The organization is solvent.

Bill also informed the membership that the proposed 2009 operating budget has been submitted and accepted by the executive committee and the society has incorporated ASHE latest strategic plan.

SECRETARYS REPORT

Joe Glaski informed all in attendance that the time had come to assemble all the required documentation to submit to ASHE in order to achieve the Platinum Level of Affiliation. Kudos to the group that worked so hard in 2008 for this achievement, special thanks to Rick Ciullo and Ed Fay for their assistance in the collection of all documentation.

Joe Glaski also reminded everyone how important it was that members of the society join and become active with ASHE to help us continue to reach this goal.

ADVOCACY

Robert Roop, PE. Mentioned the DEP Generator run time during brown out conditions.

EAB

Hank Schurman stated the meeting had been cancelled and they had scheduled a conference call this week.

GOLF OUTTING

Amy DiPaolo reminded everyone to save the date for this years golf outing and it will be held once again at Fox Hollow Country Club on Tuesday June 2nd, 2009. Anyone looking to sponsor please contact Amy.

NEWSLETTER

Rajendra Shah announced to the group the newsletter will be posted on the website shortly. Rajendra urged the membership to please submit any ideas o information to be posted in the 2009 newsletter.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

No report at this time

MEMBERSHIP

Peter Appelmann made mentioned that he had received a few new member applications and would be processing them. He will make the announcement at next months meeting who the new members are. They will be presented with their HFMSNJ certificates.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Frank Keller mentioned that Habitat project will be sometime in April scheduled for a Saturday. The next Bridges run is March 6th. Additional information will be coming regarding "tooling around town"

WEBSITE

Kim Makay stated that she is in the process of adding new tabs/links to the website for Historian and past minutes.

AD JOURNAL

Oscar stated that he is looking for more sponsors for the upcoming ad journal.

AUDIT - NOMINATING

John DiGirolomo will follow up on the audit process for 2009.

HISTORIAN

John Schliewenz - Will be providing the group with further information on this new appointment. Additionally the information will be posted on the website.

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE reminded the members that there are applications to ASHE at every meeting and urged all members to enroll in ASHE.
