Minutes to the Meeting of

March 19, 2009

President Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE called the meeting to order on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Galloping Hill Inn, Union, New Jersey, commencing at 6:05 p.m. Sergeant-at-Arms Michael DePadova, CHFM, SASHE

Lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Self-introductions were made by all in attendance.

The sponsors for this evening's meeting were Beacon Meadea's.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION TOPIC

The educational session was presented by Mark Allen with Beacon Medea's on NFPA 99 & Medical Gas Systems. There was a Power Point Presentation with a question and answer session following.

President Ben DiFranco thanked Beacon Medea's and Sherman Engineering for contributing to the members continuing education.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE announce to the group the importance of joining ASHE and the benefits being a member brings to your career. Provided general updates to the group. Update the members on the 60th Anniversary of the association and an evening at the Warwick Winery. Golf outing and re-writing the ASHE statement was discussed among the members.

PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT

Ed Fay announced that the 2009 educational calendar of events has been established but sponsorship was still needed. Education calendar is full for the reaming year and a registration flyer went to all members, Ed encourages the group to bring a guest. Ed also asked the group to contact him directly with any educational topics or additional training needs

TREASURER'S REPORT

Bill Anderson, CHFM, FASHE presented the following synapses of the 2009 budget:

Beginning Balance: $72,518.00

Disbursements: $8,994.00

Receipts: $5,430.00

Ending Balance: $68,954.00

The organization is solvent.

Bill also informed the membership to renew their memberships

SECRETARYS REPORT

Joe Glaski informed all in attendance of the next Bridges run and Habitat for Humanity May 2nd.Joe requested from the group to contact him directly with any changes to members e-mail address or employment.

Joe Glaski also reminded everyone how important it was that members of the society join and become active with ASHE to help us continue to reach this goal.

ADVOCACY

Robert Roop, PE. Mentioned the DEP Generator run time during brown out conditions.

EAB

Hank Schurman stated the meeting re: NJ Budget Charity Care update with drastic cut backs coming down the road to hospitals.

GOLF OUTTING

Amy DiPaolo reminded everyone to save the date for this years golf outing and it will be held once again at Fox Hollow Country Club on Tuesday June 2nd, 2009. Anyone looking to sponsor please contact Amy. Please sign up.

NEWSLETTER

Rajendra Shah announced to the group the newsletter will be posted on the website shortly. A special edition of the newsletter will be coming out to the group.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

MEMBERSHIP

Peter Appelmann made mentioned that he had received a few new member applications and would be processing them. New members are Sam Drisco and Scott Smith.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Joe Glaski reported for Frank Keller mentioned that Habitat project will be sometime in April scheduled for a Saturday. The next Bridges run is March 6th. Additional information will be coming regarding "tooling around town"

WEBSITE

Kim Makay stated that she is in the process of adding new tabs/links to the website for Historian and past minutes. Contact Kim with any website idea's.

AD JOURNAL

Oscar stated that he is looking for more sponsors for the upcoming ad journal.

AUDIT - NOMINATING

John DiGirolomo will follow up on the audit process for 2009.

AWARDS - RECOGNITION

George Thomas discussed Engineer of the Year award!

HISTORIAN

John Schliewenz - Will be providing the group with further information on this new appointment. Additionally the information will be posted on the website.
