Minutes to the Meeting of

April 15th, 2010

President Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE called the meeting to order on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Galloping Hill Inn, Union, New Jersey, commencing at 6:05 p.m. Sergeant-at-Arms Michael DePadova, CHFM, SASHE

Lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Self-introductions were made by all in attendance.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION TOPIC

The educational session was presented by Mr. Dan Chisholm from MGI systems and spoke on Emergency Power requirements and updates to NFPA 110. Dan also provided to the members a power presentation with handouts of his presentation.

DINNER BREAK

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE announce to the group the importance of joining ASHE and the benefits being a member brings to your career. Provided ASHE updates to the members. Ben suggested that we extend to other chapters the same courteous of paying same cost while attending HFMSNJ meetings and events. Executive team will review the current policy and update accordingly. Also the Executive group will revisit the by laws for change in the Method of Filling Vacant Elected positions for Article V, Section 4 and the actual number of times we meet each year, Article IV, Section 1 of our Constitution.

PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT

Ed Fay announced that the 2010 all day seminar is underway and if anyone interested to contact Secretary Joe Glaski for additional information. Ed mentioned to the members he is looking for a few anchor sponsors and several general vendor sponsors for the trade show during the all date seminar. A registration for the all day will be e-mailed soon to all members. If you bring a hospital guest the all day is $150.00 or if you attend alone then the cost is $100.00 including non- members.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Bill Anderson, CHFM, FASHE presented the following synapses of the 2009 budget:

Beginning Balance: $70,459.63

Disbursements: $3,629.05

Receipts: $8,030.20

Ending Balance: $75,644.69

The organization is solvent.

Bill also reminded the members and informed them that the proposed 2010 operating budget has been submitted and accepted by the executive committee and the society has incorporated ASHE and HFMSNJ strategic plan and budget for 2010.

SECRETARYS REPORT

Joe Glaski informed all in attendance that all the required documentation to submit to ASHE in order to achieve the Platinum Level of Affiliation has been submitted. A special thanks to Rick Ciullo and Ed Fay for their assistance in the collection of all required documentation.

ASHE extended The Platinum Level documents from previous years and is required to be submitted by April 1st, 2010. Joe also announced to the members that for the all day training seminar we are looking to include a mini trade show to support our vendors.

Joe also informed the group of the new CHC certification from ASHE and members are encouraged to take the test. See AHSE web site for additional information.

2009 Training certificates are available to members if needed for CEU.

ADVOCACY

Robert Roop, PE. Informed the members that a letter had been received from Mr. Sullivan - NJ DEP regarding generator use when requested by electric utility company. Use under this condition will constitute an Air Permit violation. See web site posted letter for details.

GOLF OUTTING

Ben reminded everyone to save the date for this years golf outing and it will be held once again at Fox Hollow Country Club on Tuesday June 8th, 2010. If you are interested in to sponsor or help out please contact the Golf Chair Amy DiPaolo.

NEWSLETTER

Announced to the group to submit articles for the 2010 newsletter they also will be posted on the website. Hank mentioned that this quarter newsletter will be going out to the members soon.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Group discussion to send a Thank you letter to all sponsors and vendors

MEMBERSHIP

Rajh and Peter Appelmann made mentioned that he had received a few new member applications and would be processing them. He will make the announcement at next months meeting who the new members are. They will be presented with their HFMSNJ certificates.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Frank Keller mentioned that Habitat project will be July 10th, and scheduled for a Saturday. The next Bridges run is in May.

WEBSITE

Ben DiFranco mentioned to the members that there will be a link on the HFMSNJ website listing all past presidents.

AD JOURNAL

Oscar stated that he is looking for more sponsors for the upcoming 2010 ad journal.

AUDIT - NOMINATING

Ben stated that John DiGirolomo will follow up on the audit process and report to members as audit is completed.

AWARDS - RECOGNITION

Ben and Hank announced that we will be looking to nominate the Engineer of the Year, please contact either one for additional information.

HISTORIAN

A link will be added to the website listing all past presidents

NJDOHSS, NFPA. TJC - UPDATES

Ben mentioned that St. Mary's recently went through JC survey and the RWJUH in Rhaway, NJ also went through JC survey this week. Both facilities in the engineering departments did well during survey.

OLD BUSINESS

No "Old Business" was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS

Rajendra and Hank will send a letter out to those vendor's on the waiting list to reconfirm their intent for membership.

ASHE

Ben DiFranco, CHFM, SASHE reminded the members that there are applications to ASHE at every meeting and urged all members to enroll in ASHE. ASHE annual conference will be held in Tampa Fl in July 2010.
