When it comes to fire protection systems in a healthcare facility, code compliance is not enough. The standards and expectations of accreditation agencies, authorities having jurisdiction, and underwriters exceed minimum code requirements.
This presentation will discuss the various codes and standards applicable to fire protection systems for health facilities and the importance of incorporating them into the design stage for new and retrofit health care facilities.

During the ASHE 45th Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition, Edward Fay, Director of Facility Operations with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, was recognized as the Region Two, Emerging Regional Leader Award recipient. This prestigious award is presented to one ASHE member from each of ASHE's ten geographic regions for their leadership and accomplishments in the field of healthcare engineering and facilities management.
ASHE has announced that the Healthcare Facilities Management Society of New Jersey was been awarded "Platinum Level" status for the 2009 Levels of Affiliation program. This Level of Affiliation status is ASHE's highest recognition award and is the first ever received by our chapter.
